Learning Targets

Meet the Camera

  • The learner will identify the difference between shooting RAW files and JPG files.
  • The learner will demonstrate the use of the Rule of Thirds and other composition techniques while capturing images.
  • The learner will practice importing images into Adobe Lightroom.

Using Program A/E Mode

  • The learner will recognize the importance of setting the correct white balance and will identify how to modify white balance in Adobe Lightroom.
  • The learner will recognize how ISO affects the quality of the images the camera captures and will understand the relationship between ISO and light sensitivity.

Using Shutter-Priority Mode

  • The learner will produce a series of images demonstrating how shutter speed can be used to control motion in an image.
  • The learner will practice with the Develop Module in Adobe Lightroom.

Using Aperture-Priority Mode

  • The learner will produce a series of images demonstrating how the aperture can be used to control the depth of field in an image.
  • The learner will practice rating and culling images in Adobe Lightroom.

Using Manual Mode

  • The learner will recognize how to read the light meter in the camera and will demonstrate how to use the ISO, shutter, and aperture together to properly expose an image.
  • The learner will produce a series of images demonstrating their understanding of how to properly expose an image in manual mode.
  • The learner will assemble a portfolio of their best images in Adobe Lightroom and will export them for use in other media.
